No point in selling White Burgundy if it's not fabulous. What was the advert back in the 80s? 'Because you instinctively know when something is right'. Sadly that was for sweet sherry - but the message is clear, and this really is a world-class white wine.
But this doesn't explain the character too well, does it? There a so many different angles to this region. Here though we have a succulent, long-lived, oaky Chardonnay from a tiny property in Chassagne-Montrachet, ready-to-drink but equally with a good life ahead of it. No wonder it's £27.50: the AOC wines from Pillot command £50+!
I think a bottle of this and a bottle of Ataraxia Chardonnay would make *the best* comparative tasting all year.
